Yes. I have joined the bandwagon. I am now an oilbularyo mom. And I would probably be saying this phrase a lot. There’s an oil for that!
It took me some time to join the essential oil craze because I think I knew that I would be addicted to it. Like I would really enjoy making blends and DIY ointments for everything. I also knew it was going to be expensive and I was trying to avoid having to shell out more from my savings (trying to save up for a new laptop here).
Anyway, my mom finally convinced me. She joined Young Living Essential Oils so I thought I’d also joined in on the same group. Plus the quality of the Young Living oils are one of the best, so I was told. Anyway, I think she wanted me to join so I can learn it better and then help her with the blends haha.
This post is about my unboxing of the Young Living Premium Starter Kit (or PSK). Just so you know, to get this kit you will have to be a member of the Young Living community/company. Or in order to become a member and get benefits/discounts from Young Living, you will have to get the PSK. And only first time members can avail of this kit. There are actually two ways to become a member of Young Living. You can become a member by purchasing the PSK or become a retail member, where in you can buy just the specific oils that you want, you don’t have to get the whole kit.
My first impression of the packaging was it really looks and feel premium. It felt like it was almost worth the price you paid for it. The Premium Starter Kit costs me $160 plus shipping. It was not cheap at all. But it had a really nice packaging. I specifically liked that the oils were placed on something that had a built in stand at the back.
There was also an 11th oil included in your PSK, which is the Stress Away. I have been hearing about this oil a lot and was a little excited to try it. 🙂 I was also excited to try the Thieves Household Cleaner (because I am such a mom now and anything that has to do with making the house cleaner excites me). Unfortunately, my packet leaked. 🙁
I, of course, emailed Young Living about it and they gave me a $5 credit to my account. They responded quickly and it was okay, but I really wanted to try it out. Would’ve been the first thing I used out of all the products in the kit hehe.
When you get the PSK, you also get a free diffuser. I think there are about 2 kinds of diffusers you can get for free. The other diffusers will be an upgrade so you will need to add a few dollars for those. I chose the Dewdrop Ultrasonic Diffuser as I see this specific diffuser being used by other mommy bloggers.
Aside from the oils and the diffuser, your package will also contain a product catalogue, current newsletter, a few magazines about Young Living and a card that has a list of stuff you have in your kit. The card I got, though, was not yet updated. It still had the old stuff written on it like the 10 packets of oils. So I emailed them about it asking for the 10 packets because I didn’t see them in my kit, and I was told that the card was not updated. They have new/different stuff for their 2018 PSK.
My mom also asked that I get her a Cedarwood essential oil. So I ordered it together with my PSK. The bottle was packaged this way.
Here’s a list of stuff you get from your Young Living Essential Oil Premium Starter Kit.
- 10 main essential oils (from Young Living’s Vitality line: Lemon, Copaiba, Digize, Thieves, Peppermint; Young Living Essential Oils: Panaway, Raven, Citrus Fresh, Frankincense, Lavender)
- 1 Stress Away essential oil blend
- 1 packet of Thieves Household Cleaner
- 2 Ningxia Red supplement drink
- 10 small sample bottles
- 1 roll-on cap
- small card with information about the essential oils in your kit (you can use these cards when you want to share your oils to your family or friends)
- 1 Young Living diffuser of your choice
Why did I get the Premium Starter Kit instead of just getting the oils that I want? It is obviously cheaper if I just get the oils that I want than get the whole 10 oils. Because honestly, one of the reasons why I was hesitant to get the kit was because I was thinking I didn’t need all those 10 oils. I would probably want to start with a couple of oils first. But when you look at the price of the oils individually and compare it with the price of the kit, you’ll see that you will get a huge bargain for getting the PSK. Plus, you get to do more blends when you have the kit. I mean, as I started doing my essential oil blends, I realized that it was a good thing I got all these oils because I got to do more blends for my kids. Suddenly I need something for their cough or for their sleep (need help knocking them out at night haha). So the PSK oils are already sort of complete and can let you do a lot already.
Young Living member tip (for Philippine shipping only): Choose DHL for shipping and do not exceed more than $200. Maybe stay at $180-190 so you will not be taxed here. Because I was told that some needed to pay additional Php4,000 to Php5,000 pesos for taxes in order to have their Young Living essential oils released from custom.
And since you guys are already here, you are probably interested in joining Young Living Essential Oils. Let me be the one to officially invite you and be a member of my team. 🙂 Help out a SAHM with no other source of income but these small gigs here and there (yes, I am playing that card) 😀 .
