5 Easy And Fun Homeschool Activities For Kids

So this pandemic has us all stuck at home, with our kids, almost 24/7. And although in the beginning of our lockdown, it was all fun, memorable and interesting, it became more and more tiresome in the end. The kids felt restless and us, parents, well, we needed space then, we needed them more now LOL.

To address the restlessness issue of our kids, I incorporated exercise and simple, easy-to-prepare-and-pack-away activities during our homeschool. If you are looking for quick activities to do with your kids to get them away from gadgets and TV, or just something to do to reset your connection with your kids, here are FIVE activities for you can do.

1  Magic Milk Experiment

This is probably one of the simplest activities you can do with your kids. We did this when Light asked for an experiment and I had nothing prepared for that day. And because I wanted to encourage her, we made this quick experiment, instead of saying NO. It didn’t take much time and the kids were re-energized that day.

2  GLOOP Slime

This activity was a little messy, but still manageable. If you have kids who are not into getting dirty like our kids, this activity will be a nice introduction for them. It is also a good sensory play activity for younger kids.

3  Rainbow Jars

This experiment is also very easy to prepare. It is also a good activity to do when you are learning about colors. It only requires 3 materials. THREE!!! All can be easily found in your home. Thank you.

4  Ice Cube Experiment

There’s something about ice that brings so much joy to the kids. Not to mention, this experiment is probably the most classic of science experiments there is when learning about the states of matter.

When we did this experiment, lockdown was not yet implemented, so the kids were able to do this with their bestie neighbors.

5  Vinegar + Baking Soda + Balloon

Another classic is this vinegar and baking soda experiment. This one has a little bit of twist though. Their father added another piece of material — balloons. And it made the whole experience so much more fun!
