Our homeschooling started way before we were all “forced” to home-school. 🙂 And so far, it’s been great.
Now I think it’s important to note that this feedback is from mine alone and when I say great, I mean it works for us. It works in our family schedule. Of course there are ups and downs. There are days my kids and I wouldn’t click. There are days that are easy, breezy and fun. But so far, I’m still happy doing it. 🙂
I have yet to ask my daughter though how she finds our homeschooling. I kind of want to ask her when there’s an actual option to go to a normal school because here in Metro Manila, schooling from home is still the only choice. I asked her, I believe the first year of our homeschooling, and although she seemed to be cooperative that time, she said she still wanted to go to a “normal” school because “I want classmates” LOL.
I can’t remember how I got introduced to homeschooling. But I know that when it was time for Light to start her formal education, I knew that I wanted something different for her. I wanted us to have a bit of freedom as well. And I guess that was what pointed us to this direction.

I also noticed that I was already homeschooling Light by teaching her a bit of this and that. Then I found myself preparing materials for her and that I “get” it. And that I was kind of happy with it. So we gave homeschooling a try, officially.
It is my second year of homeschooling with Light, first year to homeschool multiple children (I am doing Before Five In A Row with Siris, albeit unofficially). I think what matters to me is that my kids feel happy to learn and that they are still eager to learn and don’t feel burdened by studying. And that is what I keep in mind as a homeschooling mom.

With that being said, there are still struggles. There are tears. There are shouts. That’s why I still feel uncertain about the future of our homeschooling. I want to trust myself and believe that I’ll be able to do it until the very end. And I just wish that my kids and I will embrace it more. 🙂
