Product Review | AZMED Maternity Belt

I’ve been curious about maternity belts since my first pregnancy. I remember thinking if there’s some kind of special way these belts help us pregnant women. Because it seemed like you just wrap it around you. So I was really excited when I got my AZMED Maternity Belt. I wanted to know how wrapping the belt around my belly would make a difference in my pregnancy.

Maternity belts usually help or give support to pregnant women who are having difficulty carrying their big bumps. It helps relieve back, hip and pelvic pains. With my first pregnancy, I did have a hard time carrying my big belly around during the third trimester. But since it was already my third trimester, I didn’t bother getting a maternity belt anymore. I just endured it haha. This second time though, I feel like it’s harder getting by with my huge belly. I was already having difficulty walking at the start of my third trimester. They say your bump will be bigger the second time around, thus it may also feel heavier. I didn’t realize how big of a help wearing a maternity belt would be until I tried wearing one.

I still feel pressure on my pelvic area when I walk or stand for a long time even when I’m wearing the AZMED Maternity Belt. It is still a struggle. But I feel like that extra support that the belt gives, even though it doesn’t eliminate the pain totally, is a huge relief. Now, I wear it almost all the time at home, doing house chores, going up and down the stairs, and when I go out. I’ve been wearing it for a month now. I don’t know if it’s psychological but if I’m not wearing it, I feel more pressure and pain on my pelvic area.

The AZMED Maternity Belt feels like it’s made of good quality. It’s made of a combination of materials such as Rayon, Polyester, Spandex and U.S. Cotton. I was only able to wash it once since I don’t really sweat on it. There’s really no need to wash it everyday unless you feel like it’s super dirty already. I was told to wash it gently, like how you would wash delicate garments. So, don’t put in the washing machine. 🙂

How I Wash My AZMED Maternity Belt

  • I soak it in cold water with a regular laundry detergent for about 10-15 minutes.
  • I rinse it with cold water after.
  • I gently squeeze it and hang it to dry.

What I Like About The AZMED Maternity Belt

  • It’s lightweight, breathable and soft so it’s very comfortable to wear.
  • It’s not that visible under clothing.
  • It’s very easy to put on. You literally just wrap it around you.
  • The fit is perfect on my bump. It’s not too wide that it feels hot and uncomfortable to the skin.

Minor Struggles I Encountered Wearing The AZMED Maternity Belt

  • Sometimes if I don’t put it on nicely (meaning the velcro attachment is not aligned perfectly) the velcro part becomes irritating to the skin.
  • When going out and I have to pee, I have to remove it and put it back on.
This is how it looks like under clothing. You can barely see it.

To be honest, I would not buy a maternity belt on my own. I would not consider it a necessity during pregnancy. I feel like I’m strong enough to endure the struggle of carrying a huge belly. But I would’ve asked one as a gift on my baby shower had I known I would get pregnant again. I would recommend it to those mommies who are not used to carrying heavy stuff or do not work out regularly pre-pregnancy. If you don’t mind spending on yourself though, get a maternity belt because it’s a huge help! Or maybe you can ask for it as a gift on your birthday or on your baby shower. 🙂

One more good thing about the AZMED Maternity Belt, it’s a one size fits all. I’ve seen pregnant women of different sizes on Youtube wearing it and it fits them well. So I believe you can buy it as early as possible (maybe during the latter part of your second trimester) and use it until you give birth. 🙂

The AZMED Maternity Belt is available on Amazon.com for around $25. I think it’s a reasonable price specially since it’s of high quality. It can be shipped here in the Philippines but the cost of international shipping is crazy expensive. So $25 plus shipping might be not worth it. I think it will be available soon in the local market though. I will keep you posted once it’s already available.
