Seeing Is Believing

April 12, 2014 By Mommy 1 Comment

Even if you saw those two lines appear in your pregnancy test, there might still be other reasons, aside from being pregnant, that could’ve caused your test to become positive. For us, I still didn’t want to get my hopes 100% up until I can see a sign of life inside me. Even if our OB told us that we are for sure already an expecting couple (since I never missed a period) and my cervix was closed.

But, you see, reading these pregnancy books will tell you all the reasons why your pregnancy test showed a positive result, finding out later on that there was really no baby. I guess that’s why most practitioners will tell you not to read too many pregnancy books. You’ll just end up worrying about all those problems that may not occur anyway. Me, I settled with these three resources. 1. What To Expect When You’re Expecting (ebook); 2. Nine Months On The Inside (ebook/app); 3. Baby Center My Pregnancy (app). See my short review on these items here.

That’s baby Light!

What really made it all real was seeing baby Light. All doubts were instantly gone the second we saw that dot on the monitor.

As per advised by our OB, we had an ultrasound. A transvaginal ultrasound, to be specific. This will determine the age and size of the baby/embryo, and give you a more accurate date of delivery. I was nervous getting this “exam”. I have to admit that in my 28 years, I have never done any medical check ups that a woman at my age should’ve been having. It was only now that we are pregnant or when we were trying, that I had a pap smear, and this transvaginal ultrasound.

They say that getting a pap smear and a transavaginal ultrasound are uncomfortable. Most of my friends hated the feeling. I, on the other hand, find it strange, yes, but not too discomforting. Like having intercourse for the first time, you just have to relax your body and let it enter you (what ever device that is). 🙂 It is also advised to have the ultrasound performed by a licensed OB, and not just a technician, to have a better reading and understanding of your result. Details of my ultrasound below.

Where: STI Mega Clinic (in SM Megamall)

How much: Php 880.00

When: Year 2014

Licensed OB: A GUY! Made it weirder, but luckily the OB was very professional and had a good vibe in him.
