Doing Something Nice For Myself

September 1, 2014 By Mommy 2 Comments

From time to time, my Baby Center App would remind me to do something nice for myself. I seldom do something really nice for myself these days. Usually something nice meant staying at home so I can wake up late and do some cleaning around the house.

Yesterday, though, I decided to do something nice for myself FOR REAL. 🙂 I went swimming with my brother and his wife. I read that swimming is one of the best exercises during pregnancy, so the pregnant me and the pregnant wife of my brother went  for it.

I’ve always enjoyed swimming. During my college days, I would do lapse at the university’s olympic size pool with my best friend (I miss you gen!). It was such a relaxing exercise/hobby. I really like to swim! And yesterday, it reminded me of how much I missed it. Surprisingly, it wasn’t hard to do lapse with a pregnant belly. It was just like the old days, only now I ran out of breath quickly.

Of course you have to be carefully of wet floors and going down into the pool. It’s also always better not to push yourself too much. When you feel tired, stop and rest.

Then my college friends (my baby shower coordinators) and I went baby shower venue hunting in the afternoon. We checked out a few places that we thought would be a good place to hold my baby shower. More about this soon, though. I’ll share with you how I went about my baby shower and stuff next time. 🙂

After that “errand”, my friends and I had an artsy evening. We went painting at Sip and Gogh. We were excited and scared. We were all worried we won’t be able to produce a nice painting. But then again, there’s always abstract paintings. We were joking around saying if all else fails, we could say that we were aiming for an abstract kind of painting! 🙂

We enjoyed our time at Sip and Gogh. The staffs and artists were nice and accommodating. For Php 1000 per person, you get to select from their gallery a painting that you want to copy. You can also bring your own piece to paint. You will be provided with a canvass, paints and brushes, plus a glass of drink and a plate of cheese and crackers. It was actually worth it, especially if you end up painting a masterpiece. Just like what we ended up doing. My friends and I went in at Sip and Gogh as amateur painters and left like real artists!

I was looking for something to hang in the house. Since the canvass was a little small, I could only think of our bathroom as a place to hang the painting up. I ended up choosing this painting to paint beause I felt like she has a relaxing “aura” that makes you enjoy doing the number 2. 🙂

My Masterpiece!

I will definitely miss days like this where I can just do whatever I want and go wherever I want. 🙂 I think it’s a must that pregnant women take the time to do something nice for themselves before they give birth. I still have a few months left and I’m going to make sure that I do something really nice for myself before baby Light comes out! If  you have any suggestions on what I MUST do for myself before Light comes out, don’t hesitate to share them in the comments section below. 🙂
