There’s a new term for mommies these days. I wasn’t aware of it before until Light and I attended Amanda Griffin-Jacob’s new website launch. And I must say, I’m liking the term. π It is called the Mindful Mom, and Amanda is one inspiring mindful mom (not to mention, so down to earth)!

There’s Supermom, SAHM, WAHM, Mommy Blogger, Working Mom, etc., but they all sort of just involve you and your baby. Being a mindful mom, well, I think it’s a term that I’d like to be called as a mother, because you don’t only take care of your self and your baby, but also the environment. I think being a mindful mom is a difficult one to be because you really have to make a change in your lifestyle that’s not really easy to do. I mean it’s so easy to just put all your trash in one big garbage bag and not segregate them, right.? Because on top of having no household help and working part time, you just don’t have the time and energy to deal with trash.
But there’s a lot more to it than dealing with trash. Becoming a mindful mom is being mindful of everything. of what you put in your body and your family’s bodies. It’s what you leave behind in the environment, the world. It’s thinking about the future too. Honestly, I don’t think I can ever be a mindful mom. Maybe I can be 20% mindful? Haha
Anyway, it was such an inspiring event. Light met Amanda for the first time when she wasn’t even a year old. She was the first celebrity Light met. And now, she meets her again in the launching of Amanda’s new blog. All thanks to Light’s dad for doing some consulting on Amanda’s site haha. π
The History
About 6 years ago, Amanda started the Glam-O-Mamas. I think it was Amanda’s first blog site. It was her “baby”. Since then it has become a community for like minded “mamas”. Β I’ve heard about the Glam-O-Mamas before but I have to admit that I seldom follow mommy bloggers or groups. Sometimes I’m clueless to these awesome mommies and communities, which is crazy because they can make motherhood less difficult and more fun. You get help from mothers who have gone through the same experiences. If you need support or a cheerleader, you have this community of women who would be happy to give that.
The Glam-O-Mamas website was renamed to this new one, but the Facebook group still remains as Glam-O-Mamas. π

When Amanda felt like dressing down after all the glam, she decided to make a “slight rebrand”. She renamed it amandagriffinjacob(dot)com because she wanted to “be more inclusive of all women as opposed to being exclusive to women who are mothers. I want to communicate my enthusiasm about living a healthier, kinder, greener lifestyle and encourage and advocate for women out there to take steps to do the same.”

I think this new website is more personal and “complete”. I’ve been reading some of her posts and I really enjoy learning more about a mindful mom like Amanda. Plus, I like to think that I share something with her, even if it’s just being a mother haha. There’s a beauty section too, where Amanda shares her beauty secrets. I can now be as pretty and chic as Amanda haha! π
The Event | A Welcome Party
The set up (styled by She Dreams In Ink) for the “welcome party” for Amanda’s new blog was very earthy. The venue was at SUSI in BGC, which I found out was a gluten free restaurant. It was a simple, intimate event with some of her closest friends, Glam-O-Mamas followers and some media personalities. It was cozy and informal (no glam at all). π
It started off with a fun and very “green” activity. We decorated some succulent plants prepared by Smarty Plants PH. The event host wasΒ Lexi Schulze. After the activity, Amanda talked about what made her decide to rebrand. She talked about her passions and dreams for her new website. There were also a couple of fellow mom guest speakers who were health advocates. They talked about their products and services.
Of course the party wouldn’t be complete without souvenirs. π I got goodies from some of Amanda’s partners.
