I know that kids grow up really fast. I mean, just look at Light. She’s turning two in a month. But sometimes I can’t help but wish that Light was just a little bit older. Just a little bit older so we can do more things together. 🙂 I’ve got a list made here when I was still pregnant with her. I haven’t updated it in a while but some of the things there would be perfect to do with Light when she’s a little older. 🙂
Anyway, last August Light and I had our very first official date. I called it a date because it was the first time that I planned something for us two with us just bonding in mind. No errands to make. No parties or commitments to attend. Just something that I wanted to do with her.
I got a text from Hamleys’ (the toy store in BGC). They were having an arts and crafts event. You can join if you buy something from them and since I needed to get a gift for my nephew, I thought it would be a nice date activity for Light and I.
I was excited and nervous. I guess I made such a big deal out of it haha. But Light totally knows when my full attention is with her. I can see in her face pure happiness whenever I tell her I’m going to play with her, or she sees me spending time with her. So I was just really hoping that she’d have fun on our date. And she did!
I didn’t mind doing nothing (for adults it was considered nothing) for a few hours. I just wanted to see her have fun and play with the other kids. I even tried to be lenient with her and tried not to scold her too much that time. ;D
After the event at Hamleys, we walked around High Street. Just me and my not-so-baby-anymore girl. We had a snack at a cafe (just like how I imagined we would often be doing in the future) while waiting for her daddy to come join us.
I hope Light never gets tired of her mommy. Because this will not be the last time. I’m looking forward to many more bonding moments with her. 🙂
How about you? I’d love to hear about your dates with your kids. Share them in the comment section below. And oh, if you have some nice ideas for our next date, put them there too! 🙂
